The Periodontal Charting –
What should it contain?

When required for specific procedures, it is expected that a periodontal charting should be accurate and complete. The periodontal charting should provide a complete record of the pocket depths, mobilities, recession (free gingival margin), mucogingival junction (essential for submissions for mucogingival surgery), location of implants, etc. The periodontal charting is contemporaneous and part of your clinical notes unlike any narrative that might otherwise be provided. (see clinical notes vs. narratives above).
